Opinel Knife Complete Picnic + set
Designed in collaboration with designer Franck Fontana, the Picnic + set is a collection of smart and sustainable accessories for comfortable meals on the go.
Comes with:
- A No. 08 knife
- Two inserts, a fork and a spoon, that fit the No. 08 knife
- A microfiber towel holder that is both a storage and cleaning device
The inserts are made of stainless steel, so that they are pleasant to eat, as well as being robust and hygienic (compatible with N°08 knives with a wooden handle, equipped with the Virobloc safety ring available on the market since 2000).
To attach the fork or spoon:
- with the knife blade closed, open the rotating ring
- fasten the fork or spoon to the ring using the small notches
- close the ring
The kit is suitable for outdoor meals (picnics, bivouacs, camping, etc.) as well as on-the-go meals at the office!
We use modified Sandvik 12C27 stainless steel. It is anti-corrosive thanks to the addition of chromium and does not require special maintenance. Its carbon content of at least 0.40% gives an excellent cutting edge. Blade hardness 57-58 HRC.
The classic Opinel blade has adopted a Yatagan shape. The Yatagan shape is inspired by a traditional Turkish sword, the toe up. The blade is ground to an exclusive curved profile that ensures blade strength and allows for efficient re-sharpening.
Beech is the most commonly used wood for making Opinel handles. From France, our beech is hard, durable and easy to work with. Homogeneous in appearance, its light color varies from yellow to pink. It is characterized by the presence of numerous small dark lines.
Invented by Marcel Opinel in 1955, the Virobloc safety ring is fitted to all N° 06 folding knives. Cut from stainless steel, the Virobloc has two sections, one fixed and one sliding. In addition to locking the blade open (safety in use), it is now possible to lock the blade closed (safety in transport).
Blade length: 8.5 cm
