Opinel Knife N°08 Chaperon
Opinel does marquetry!!!
Furniture maker Bruno Chaperon's marquetry transforms the classic N°08: the contrasting mix of 4 different woods makes it a completely unique knife.
We use modified Sandvik 12C27 stainless steel. It is anti-corrosive thanks to the addition of chromium and does not require special maintenance. Its carbon content of at least 0.40% gives an excellent cutting edge. Blade hardness 57-58 HRC. Double polish for a mirror effect.
The handle is made in our factory with a marquetry process invented by Bruno Chaperon, a furniture maker. Four different types of wood are assembled (ebony, rosewood, violet wood, bokote, cocobolo, rosewood, zebrali, boxwood, amaranth ... ). Excellent wood with contrasting shades for an original and unique effect.
Invented by Marcel Opinel in 1955, the Virobloc safety ring is fitted to all N° 06 folding knives. Cut from stainless steel, the Virobloc has two sections, one fixed and one sliding. In addition to locking the blade open (safety in use), it is now possible to lock the blade closed (safety in transport).
